The recently launched Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) champions equality and human rights for all, working to eliminate discrimination, reduce inequality, protect human rights and to build good relations, ensuring that everyone has a fair chance to participate in society.

The EHRC has taken over responsibility and the work of the Equal Opportunities Commission, the Commission for Race Equality and the Disability Rights Commission in respect of gender, race and disability.  But it has also taken on responsibility for the newer equality strands of age, religion or belief and sexual orientation.

At present their publications and support materials on ‘age discrimination’ are extremely limited.  However, they do have a ’Helpline’ which gives information and guidance on discrimination (including age discrimination) and human rights issues.  The Helpline can be contacted by telephone, text phone, letter, email or fax.
Please note, the EHRC’s Helpline offices do not accept visitors and only provide a phone and correspondence service. They do not provide face to face advice.
